CGC Landran launches organ donation awareness initiative on World Organ Donation Day

On the occasion of World Organ Donation Day, Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran launched ‘Jeevansh - Life Beyond Life’, a community-led outreach initiative focused on increasing awareness about organ donation and encouraging informed conversations among young people and the wider public on the subject. Envisioned as part of CGC Landran’s Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) initiative, the progressive awareness and outreach campaign was unveiled during a press conference held on campus. An official poster was also unveiled to commemorate the occasion. As part of the launch, students presented the campaign's official logo, communication material and roadmap for outreach activities across the Tricity and various parts of Punjab.
Positioned as an organ donation awareness community, ‘Jeevansh’, is a student and faculty-led volunteer group dedicated to conducting awareness drives in schools, colleges, rural and urban communities in vicinity of CGC Landran, across different parts of the state, in public spaces and through digital campaigns.
Recognizing how one organ donor can save multiple lives, the Jeevansh community of CGC Landran seeks to use education, dialogue and community engagement activities to create greater awareness about organ donation while addressing and dispelling myths surrounding the subject. The initiative is intended to encourage informed public understanding of organ donation while respecting that the decision to register as a donor remains a deeply personal choice for each individual.
The Jeevansh community, as part of its outreach efforts will organize, awareness workshops and seminars; Theatrical representations; public outreach campaigns; expert talks with transplant specialists; myth-versus-fact awareness sessions; social media campaigns in addition to collaborations with hospitals, NGOs and civic bodies. The institution also invites educational institutions, healthcare organisations, civil society groups, and citizens to join hands in building greater awareness about the life-saving impact of organ donation.
Gracing the event with their presence was a distinguished panel of healthcare experts, who were joined by Special Guests and acclaimed Punjabi actors, Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu and Malkeet Rauni. Also present on the occasion were Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran, Parampal Singh Dhillon, Vice- Chairman, CGC Landran, Dr. Gagandeep Bhullar, Director, Student Welfare and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Campus Director, other Directors, HoDs of CGC Landran including faculty members, students and social workers.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran, expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the initiative and extended his best wishes to the CGC Landran Jeevansh community for championing the noble cause of organ donation and working to raise awareness about its life-saving potential. He said that today’s younger generation is increasingly aware, empathetic and purpose-driven and lauded their efforts to promote this noble cause. He further emphasized that serving humanity is among the noblest forms of serving God, and that organ donation is a selfless act with the power to save precious lives. He added that by giving the gift of life, donors not only bring hope to families in their most difficult moments but also leave behind an inspiring legacy, one that allows their kindness and compassion to be remembered for generations to come.
Speaking at the launch, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, said, “Education extends beyond classrooms. As an institution committed to building socially responsible citizens, we believe our students can become ambassadors for a cause that has the power to transform lives. This initiative is about awareness, compassion and informed choice."
CGC Landran also announced plans to observe organ donation awareness week annually and involve students across disciplines in advocacy, volunteerism, and research and community engagement.
