Canada: Fresh Twist in Nijjar Murder Case- RP Singh Questions Trudeau Over Goldy Brar’s Alleged Claim

New Delhi/Ottawa, August 23, 2026: A fresh twist has emerged in the three-year-old murder case of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, following the circulation of an audio recording in which Canada-based gangster Satinderjeet Singh, alias Goldy Brar, is allegedly heard claiming responsibility for Nijjar’s killing.
The audio has been circulating on social media and has also been reported by several media outlets. Babushahi Network has not independently verified the authenticity of the recording, and the contents should therefore be treated as an allegation until independently authenticated. In the purported recording, Brar allegedly says that he and his associates killed Nijjar and gives his alleged reasons for the killing.
The development comes after a major change in the legal and investigative picture surrounding the case. In July this year, US federal prosecutors charged jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his alleged North American associate Goldy Brar with ordering the 2023 assassination of Nijjar. The US indictment alleges that Bishnoi and Brar directed the killing, while two gunmen carried it out.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) also said in July that its investigation, conducted jointly with US authorities, had identified the Nijjar killing among crimes allegedly linked to the Bishnoi organised-crime network.
Significantly, a senior RCMP official said in July that investigators had found no evidence linking Indian government officials to Nijjar’s murder, according to reports, a position that contrasted with the allegations made by former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2023.
Trudeau's government had alleged that there were potential links between Indian government agents and Nijjar's killing—an allegation that India strongly rejected. The dispute triggered a major diplomatic confrontation between India and Canada.
RP Singh questions Trudeau
Against this backdrop, BJP national spokesperson R.P. Singh has once again questioned Trudeau over his earlier allegations against India.
In a post on X, Singh said that India had maintained from the beginning that the Indian government had nothing to do with Nijjar's killing. He questioned why the Trudeau government had pursued what he described as an unproven narrative linking Indian officials to the murder.
Singh also referred to the recent US charges against Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, arguing that the organised-crime angle now requires the earlier narrative to be reconsidered.
He questioned: Who actually planned Nijjar’s murder? Who ordered it? Who carried it out? And why was the Indian government blamed before all the facts were established?
Singh further called for Canada to follow the evidence and cooperate with US investigators in establishing the truth and bringing those responsible to justice.
The US indictment itself alleges that Bishnoi and Brar ordered Nijjar's assassination. However, criminal charges and allegations in an indictment are not proof of guilt unless established in court.
The latest alleged audio recording, therefore, adds another layer to an already complex case—but its authenticity and evidentiary value remain to be established independently.
