Farmers begin 7-day protest at Chandigarh-Mohali border; View Pics

Chandigarh, September 1, 2026: Farmers under the banner of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Tuesday began a seven-day sit-in at the Chandigarh-Mohali border, with hundreds of tractors and trolleys reaching the protest site.
The protest, scheduled from September 1 to 7, focuses on demands including a legal guarantee for MSP, complete farm and agricultural labourers’ debt waiver, Punjab’s river-water rights and restoration of its representation in the BBMB.
Around 350 trolleys reach Mohali - Chandigarh Border as Farmers under the leadership of SKM begin pakka morcha Sept 1st to 7th Sept. The farmers opposing the US-India Trade deal to free trade agreements. Demands legal MSP guarantee, Punjab water rights to Complete farm and farm-labour debt waiver. The first meeting of SKM is underway.

Farmers are also opposing proposed free-trade agreements and certain agricultural laws.
