Opposition Has Right to Raise Issues, But Congress Should Not Politicise Safai Karamcharis’ Concerns, Says CM

Chandigarh, September 1, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday said the state government was continuously working to resolve issues concerning Safai Karamcharis and had already accepted 12 of their demands.
Replying to a question raised by MLA Vikas Saharan in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha, Saini said matters currently under judicial consideration could not be resolved immediately at the government level. He added that the government would take appropriate action in accordance with court directions.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel had already given a detailed statement in the House on the matter, apprising the Opposition and the people of the state of the situation, Saini said.
The Chief Minister said similar issues had also arisen in the past and existed during the Congress regime. He accused the Congress of politicising the concerns of Safai Karamcharis instead of focusing on their resolution.
Saini said the Opposition had every right to raise issues in the House and place its concerns before the government, which, he added, was prepared to respond to legitimate concerns and work towards resolving them.
Referring to a Congress MLA speaking to a Safai Karamchari over the phone during the Assembly proceedings, Saini said using a mobile phone for conversation inside the House was not permissible under the rules. He said members could make or receive calls outside the House if required.
The Chief Minister reiterated that his government was working with urgency to address the concerns of Safai Karamcharis and urged the Congress not to politicise the issue.
