Sangrur (Punjab), September 5, 2026: The Punjab Government and the Punjab Police Headquarters have taken action against four police personnel in connection with the Mohanjit Singh Shero case, following questions over alleged negligence in the discharge of duty and the role of police officials.
As part of the action, DSP Harwinder Singh has been transferred from his current posting, while three other officials have been directed to report to the Police Lines in Sangrur with immediate effect.
According to the information available, Inspector and SHO Prateek Jindal, Sub-Inspector/SHO Baljit Singh, and ASI Harpreet Singh have been ordered to report at the Sangrur Police Lines.
The orders direct the concerned officers and personnel to report to the Police Lines immediately. The action is being viewed as a move to fix accountability within the police department amid allegations of negligence in the handling of the case.
The Mohanjit Singh Shero case has remained under discussion in recent weeks, with questions also being raised over the police response and handling of the matter.
With the latest orders, accountability of the police officials involved has once again come into focus.
