GRP recovers 10.64 Kg of Ganja near Railway Yard; Case registered under NDPS Act
Ferozepur, September 6, 2026: The Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered 10.64 kg of ganja from an abandoned packet lying near the railway tracks in the railway yard area during a checking operation aimed at curbing drug trafficking and monitoring suspicious persons.
According to the police, an GRP team led by ASI Surjit Singh, along with LR/ASI Wadhawa Singh, Head Constable Amarjit Singh, Woman Head Constable Parvinder Kaur and PHG Ajay Kumar , was conducting checking in the railway yard area on September 6.
During the operation, the police team noticed a light-blue waxed packet lying unattended in bushes near the railway tracks. Suspecting that it might contain contraband, the team searched the packet and found a substance suspected to be ganja inside.
The substance was weighed on a computerized weighing scale and its total weight was found to be 10 kg 64 grams.
The recovered contraband was taken into police possession and a case, FIR No. 22 dated September 6, 2026, was registered against an unidentified person under Sections 20/61/85 of the NDPS Act.
Further investigation into the source and intended recipient of the contraband is underway.
