  Chandigarh/Amritsar, September 10, 2026: Punjab Government has enforced ban on sale and consumption of of meat and related products, liquor and tobacco products within the limits of three holy cities of Amritsar (walled city), municipal limits of Sri Anandpur Sahib district Ropar and Talwandi Sabo (Damdama Sahib) district Bathinda as these have been declared holy cities by the Government of Punjab.
  
  Orders in this effect have been issued by Principal Secretary Animal husbandry, Fisheries and Daily Development yesterday. Government had declared these three cities as holy cities in December 2025.
