India Post Recruitment 2026: 23,757 posts open for 10th pass, no exam or interview

New Delhi, September 13, 2026: The Department of Posts has invited applications for 23,757 posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak under the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Schedule-II recruitment drive.
The online application process is underway, with eligible candidates able to apply until September 21, 2026, up to 5 pm. The recruitment is likely to attract a large number of 10th-pass candidates as no written examination or interview will be conducted. Selection will be based on a merit list prepared using marks obtained in Class 10.
Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board with Mathematics and English as subjects. They should also have knowledge of the local language, basic computer skills and the ability to ride a bicycle.
The prescribed age limit is 18 to 40 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories, including SC, ST, OBC and PwBD categories, will be eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit as per government rules.
The application fee is Rs 100. Women candidates, SC, ST, PwBD and transgender women candidates are exempted from paying the fee.
Applicants will also get an opportunity to rectify errors in their applications. The correction window will remain open on September 23 and 24, 2026.
State-wise vacancies
The recruitment includes vacancies across several states and regions. The major vacancy figures include 2,297 posts in Maharashtra, 2,118 in Tamil Nadu, 1,691 in Uttar Pradesh, 1,619 in West Bengal, 1,450 in Madhya Pradesh, 1,379 in Jharkhand, 1,373 in Kerala, 1,354 in the North-Eastern Region, 1,353 in Odisha, 1,116 in Karnataka and 1,098 in Bihar.
Eligible candidates can apply online through the official Department of Posts website by completing the one-time registration process, uploading the required documents and paying the applicable fee.
With selection based on Class 10 marks rather than a competitive written examination or interview, the recruitment offers an opportunity for eligible candidates seeking entry-level positions in the postal department.
