Amritsar (Punjab), September 20, 2026: AAP MLA from Payal Manwinder Singh Giaspura has questioned the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) over the alleged allocation of accommodation at a gurdwara and raised questions about who should be held responsible for its management.
In a post shared on social media, Giaspura alleged that the SGPC had previously cited concerns about maintaining respect and avoiding controversy while discussing accommodation for a woman, but questioned how VIPs and their attendants were subsequently being accommodated at the premises.
Giaspura also referred to the role of SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami in the management of gurdwara properties and argued that responsibility should extend to those overseeing the accommodation arrangements.
He further criticised what he described as attempts to defend those facing allegations of disrespect towards Guru Sahib and said he was not afraid to speak about the issue.
Giaspura's remarks come amid an ongoing controversy surrounding allegations of misconduct and the management of accommodation at Sikh religious premises. The claims made in his social media post could not be independently verified.
The SGPC's response to the specific allegations raised by Giaspura was not immediately available.
