Vigilance nabs Lady SHO, Gunman in Rs 50,000 bribery case

Ferozepur, September 27, 2026: The Vigilance Bureau late Saturday night arrested Lady Inspector Sunita Bawa, Station House Officer of Kot Ise Khan police station, along with her gunman, Home Guard jawan Guravtar Singh, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
According to information, Kot Ise Khan police had arrested a person from Khosa Randhir village a few days ago in a drug-related case. Based on information reportedly obtained during the investigation, SHO Sunita Bawa allegedly threatened Rajwinder Singh of Noorpur Hakima village with implicating him in a drug trafficking case.
Sources said the SHO had allegedly already received Rs 50,000 from Rajwinder Singh and was demanding another Rs 50,000. Rajwinder subsequently approached the Vigilance Bureau and lodged a complaint.
Following verification of the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau constituted a team headed by Inspector Gagandeep Kaur of the Ferozepur Range. The team laid a trap and allegedly caught the SHO and her gunman red-handed while accepting Rs 50,000 at a designated place on the Zira Road at around 9 pm in the presence of official witnesses.
According to the information available, Inspector Sunita Bawa was already under the Vigilance Bureau's scrutiny and had allegedly faced accusations of demanding bribes through her gunman.
It is pertinent to mention that a woman SHO of the same police station had also earlier been arrested on allegations of accepting a bribe.
