MLAs join district-level ‘Sadde Bazurg Sadha Maan’ event in Ferozepur MLAs
Ferozepur, October 9, 2026: A district-level function and mega camp under the Punjab Government’s ‘Sadde Buzurg Sadha Maan’ (Our Elders, Our Pride) campaign was organised at Ferozepur on Friday to promote the welfare of senior citizens, improve their quality of life and facilitate access to government schemes.
MLA Ferozepur Rural Rajnish Dahiya, MLA Guruharsahai Fauja Singh Sarari and MLA Zira Naresh Kataria attended the event as chief guests. The programme began with a welcome song presented by schoolchildren.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Rajnish Dahiya said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was committed to the welfare of senior citizens and improving their living standards. He said initiatives like ‘Sadde Buzurg Sadha Maan’ strengthened respect for the elderly and encouraged society to ensure their proper care. He appealed to people to respect senior citizens in their families and society and provide them with the dignity they deserved.
MLA Fauja Singh Sarari highlighted the importance of senior citizens in families and society, emphasising moral values and the responsibility of caring for the elderly. He described them as a valuable asset to society.
MLA Naresh Kataria said that the experience, guidance and blessings of senior citizens were a source of inspiration for future generations. He stressed that ensuring their respect, security and access to essential facilities was a collective responsibility.
A mega camp was organised as part of the programme, offering health check-ups, ENT examinations, eye examinations, cancer screening and routine medical consultations. Help desks were also set up by the Health Department, Sewa Kendra and District Legal Services Authority to facilitate senior citizen cards and provide information about free legal services for the elderly.
Students of DAV School made a special contribution to the success of the programme. Various competitions for senior citizens and cultural activities were also organised, and the winners were honoured by the chief guests. Wheelchairs, hearing aids and other assistive devices were distributed among needy beneficiaries.
Among those present were Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission member Gurpreet Singh Ittanwali, District Social Security Officer Sukhwinder Kaur, AAP leaders Chand Singh Gill, Bhupinder Kaur and Mandeep Singh, Vice District President of the Youth Wing, Pardeep Dhawan, Harish Goyal, officials and employees of various departments, and a large number of senior citizens.
