Mansa (Punjab), October 14, 2026: The administration on Wednesday initiated bulldozer action at the house of Ashwani Kumar, the main accused in the murder case of anti-drug activist Parwinder Singh Jhota and the owner of a medical store.
A JCB machine was deployed at the site, while a heavy police force was stationed in the area during the operation.
The action comes after Jhota was shot dead following a heated dispute over the issue of drugs at a chemist shop in Mansa on Tuesday. The incident triggered widespread anger, with protesters demanding justice for the anti-drug activist.
The official grounds for the demolition and details of the orders authorising the action were not immediately available.
Earlier, reports late Tuesday night suggested that police had arrested Ashwani Kumar in Rajasthan. However, official confirmation of the arrest from the Mansa police was not available.
Meanwhile, an indefinite protest demanding justice for Jhota continues in Mansa. Protesters are seeking strict action in the murder case and the fulfilment of their other demands.
The protesters have also formed a committee to coordinate the agitation and hold discussions with the administration.
The developments come amid tension in Mansa following Jhota’s killing, with attention focused on the police investigation, the administrative action and talks between officials and protesters.
