Moga (Punjab), October 16, 2026: A team from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) visited Punjab’s Moga district on Friday to review measures being taken to prevent stubble burning during the 2026 paddy harvesting season.
The delegation, led by Dr T.S. Panwar, Member (Technical), met district officials and visited villages identified as stubble-burning hotspots to assess the situation on the ground and review the district administration’s preparedness.
The team examined arrangements for managing paddy residue through both in-situ methods, which involve handling crop residue in the fields, and ex-situ methods, which involve collecting and using it outside the fields.
It also reviewed the availability and deployment of crop residue management (CRM) machinery, field-level surveillance and coordination among departments responsible for preventing stubble burning.
During the visit, the delegation stressed the need for continuous monitoring, better coordination among officials and timely action to prevent stubble-burning incidents during the ongoing harvesting season.
The visit is part of CAQM’s ongoing monitoring of stubble-burning prevention measures in Punjab’s identified hotspot districts.
