Chandigarh, October 18, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Mansa, Sangrur and Gurdaspur on Tuesday, October 20, to meet the families of people who recently lost their lives after raising their voices against the alleged drug trade in Punjab.
In a post on X, Shah accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of failing to curb the drug menace in the state, alleging that its policies had contributed to the suffering of numerous families who had lost their children to drugs.
He also alleged that drug traffickers were flourishing under the AAP government’s protection and said he would meet the bereaved families to express his condolences.
“The pain of what these families have lost cannot be expressed in words,” Shah said, adding that attempts to silence voices against the illegal drug trade would not succeed.
The Union Home Minister said the Central government was committed to taking action against drug traffickers and bringing them to justice. He asserted that efforts would continue to free Punjab and the country from the drug trade.
Shah’s planned visit comes amid growing concerns and protests over drug-related issues in Punjab, including the recent killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa.
