Amritsar (Punjab), October 24, 2026: A 27-year-old man was shot dead outside his house in Amritsar’s Gate Hakima area following an alleged dispute over parking an Activa scooter, police said.
The deceased, identified as Amit Sabharwal, sustained four bullet injuries to his head, waist and leg after one of the alleged attackers opened fire during the altercation.
According to information shared by the family and police, Amit had returned from a party with friends late on Friday night and parked his Activa outside his house in the street. Three brothers from the neighbourhood, identified as Abhi Shah, Sunny Shah and Ritik Shah, allegedly confronted him over moving the scooter.
The argument escalated, and Abhi Shah allegedly fired five to six rounds at Amit with a country-made pistol. Family members, who were inside the house, heard sounds resembling firecrackers and rushed outside to find Amit seriously injured.
He was taken to a hospital but died on the way. Gate Hakima police station SHO Baljinder Singh said a murder case had been registered against the three accused brothers on the basis of a statement given by Amit’s father, Sunil Kumar Sabharwal.
Police are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area, and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
