Mansa (Punjab), October 27, 2026: Tension gripped Mansa on Tuesday after police detained several protest leaders, including Lakha Sidhana, Bhana Sidhu and Mohanjit Sheron, during a confrontation over a protest following the suspected drug overdose death of a 32-year-old man in Bhamme Kalan village.
The confrontation erupted when protesters sought to take the body of Daljit Singh, son of Jarnail Singh, to an ongoing protest site in Mansa, where demonstrators have been demanding justice in the Parvinder Singh Jhota case. Police deployed a large force and imposed barricades to prevent the body from being taken to the protest site.

The situation escalated into heated arguments and scuffles between police personnel and protesters. Police subsequently detained several leaders and youth activists present at the spot.
Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Chaudhary said no one would be allowed to take the law
