Should we feed the birds....? .. by Ninder Ghugianvi
A night full of thunderbolts and Lightning snaking through the dark skies.
The entire sector sixteen got jittery and terrified. As I visited Rose garden the very next morning, it was miserable to see some of the trees and shrubs uprooted
Twigs of few were smashed, as the overpowering windstorm drove the vines away. I was absolutely mournful while having a glimpse of many dead pigeons across the platform
Sitting right next to the fallen ones, those still alive appeared to be marking their time for passing away. They seemed almost lifeless!
Such an awful sight it was! While walking down the garden, I fancied how the pigeons could have saved their lives, had they still knew how to fly! They could have concealed under the close by trees or hedges during gales and storms. Perhaps their own laziness and strangers feeding them led to their untimely demise. Their indolence made them sleep forever, Alas!!
I still spot pigeons in the garden, reduced in number, nevertheless. Those altruists still pay them a visit in the morning and feed them fondly. I am sure, these “magnanimous souls” will keep coming in the morning to perform their so-called “virtuous deeds”, while committing sins rest of the day.
(9 August 2019)
Rose Garden wakes up. Birds are still half asleep, calling to each other.
Quiet morning, Thick clouds; it’s
Drizzling !! Trees, weeds, and vines are waking up all across!!
A few among the chandigarhians came for a stroll; Umbrellas by hand; Sluggish and slothful moves!!
Let me make a move to my village, my friends.
