Ethics, Independence, and Sexuality:
I am an Indian, a citizen of a country that has spread the concept of ethics, morals, yoga (as a discipline of life) to the world. Ethics has been our core in terms of values, no matter to which religion we belong to, as India is a diverse nation in terms of religion, culture, and language. Along with being an epitome of ethics, India is also an independent, democratic nation where all individuals have the right to express and live their life in their way.
Indian generations have given us several examples of valor, power, beauty, and intelligence when we look back in history. Though people did not have so many opportunities and fields to choose from in those times where they could show their caliber according to their interest. We have examples where even women, being a part of patriarchal society, have gone out of their way to achieving what they wanted to and we have a rich history of them to explore when women were not expected to step out and do something out of the way. Today, the scenario is different and every field is full of women working to the best of their efficiencies and making our nation proud.
Amongst all these achievements and proud moments, being independent along with being ethical has become a very difficult task for people. We are so much into being independent and self-obsessed that we have dumped our ethics somewhere deep in some attic where it takes a lot of effort to go back and search for the same. Everyone has a smartphone these days and even I have one and it has become a routine to scroll your phone every morning to check some updates about the country, state, and the world where one of the sections is also of the entertainment industry, where I get to see these ravishing photoshoots of celebrities every day.
When I think of an independent woman and at the same time about how attractive that woman can be, I consider her way of presenting herself that is her personality and her intellect and who says that you cannot be attractive or appealing when you are fully clad? When I scroll through these pictures of the celebrities, it gives me a feeling that they have limited the attractive or appealing factor to the half-clad body of a female or sometimes just enough to cover private parts and the photoshoots are on!
I have read about and seen pictures of some eminent ladies in India, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Mai Bhago Ji, Maharani Gayatri Devi and I found them very appealing and very impressive in their fully clad bodies and all these were women of substance with all the appeals you look for in a woman. When we talk of women safety and educating people on gender equality and respect, all aspects should be taken care of, are we conscious enough that what kind of effect these pictures have? These pictures cause a hormonal rush and dear all we cannot change the biological makeup of our bodies. Sexuality is very personal to an individual but when we expose it to the world so open and then we expect people to explore us from a different point of view keeping all the ethics, morals, and values intact, I am sorry it is difficult!
A woman can be equally elegant with her body clad and can be equally gorgeous with her intent intact. I am not against the entertainment world, it’s a profession for many of them and by their choice, which is perfectly fine but there should be a balance. People have to be educated enough to understand the intricacies of independence and sexuality. Everyone should be on the same page and should have the same mindset where they can control their ‘oxytocin’ levels from overflowing. A good relevant balance is very important in the society and Indian society is complicated, you believe it or not but some control and some change in definitions of certain terms being in a society can be of help.
“Nothing could be more appealing than sharpness in your vision, efficiency in your intellect, determination to be independent, and privacy of your sexuality.”
