February 13, 2022:Today, all eyes are on Punjab Assembly Elections..Elections are around the corner in Punjab.
Hardworking and aggressive by nature, Punjabis have always proven themselves by leading in different sectors across the globe. During India's Independence Movement, Punjabis made sacrifices at the forefront.This time, they are desiring a change in their home-state. They are demanding drastic reforms.
From the past few years, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal has given hope to people that the system can be run democratically with honesty and integrity. Bhagwant Maan, AAP's CM face in Punjab is a reflection of the party's ideology.
I met Bhagwant Mann, a comedian turned politician through my friend late Raj Brar. My friend Satpal Sekha from my village was recording "Chhitro Chhitri". I used to get a chance to stay with Raj Brar. At that time people like Satnam Sidhu, Janta, Jhanda Beant Romana were working for the company day and night.
When Bhagwant Mann's first cassette "Gobi Diye Kachhiye Vaparne" became a hit, Raj Brar had told him that singer Mohammad Sadiq Sahib had called him "Bhante". If you want to move forward in life then talk to the people beyond the cabbage bundles. Two years later, on New Year's Eve, it was a unique move against the corrupt system of Doordarshan.
From 1993 to 2000, we never saw Raj Brar, Bhagwant Mann, and Jagtar Jaggi drinking together in late-night programs. One night the Moga Ram Lila Committee invited them to the program. Jagtar Jaggi came to me in Moga. Bhagwant's car broke down on the way. When Bhagwant Mann came to Moga's Dana Mandi, people grabbed him by the hand.
After the program, I told Bhagwant Mann that Garg Ji is angry because of your delay. Bhagwant, Jaggi, and I spent the whole night not letting this thing fall. . "Everyone would make fun of him for having a throat operation ", Mann said.
Mann, who has taken comedy to new heights, had never even thought of making new strides in politics.We all see Indians sitting abroad now addressing the crowd of ten rallies every day in Punjab elections. Bhagwant never gets tired of meeting thousands of people. It is the result of Mann's hard work day and night.
As a comedian, actor, Member of Parliament, worker, he has reached the pinnacle.If he wins the Punjab elections then I wonder what will be his next destination. Like he got love from all over the world, it has to be carried with Punjab, family, patriotism because everyone has sincerely believed in this party. All Punjab and its volunteers and leaders are with him.
The only thing Punjabis are now waiting for is 20th February and 10th March!
