New Delhi, May 2, 2026: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has identified a misleading message circulating among mobile users, falsely claiming to be from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) regarding suspension of customer KYC.
The fake notice alleges that user KYC has been suspended by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and warns that the SIM card will be blocked within 24 hours if verification is not completed.
Clarifying the matter, PIB Fact Check confirmed that the notice is entirely fake and has not been issued by BSNL. It further stated that BSNL does not send such messages to customers.
Authorities have also cautioned users against sharing personal or banking details in response to such fraudulent messages, urging citizens to remain vigilant against phishing attempts.
