Chandigarh, May 24, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal recently unveiled the party's student wing, the Association of Students for Alternative Politics (ASAP). Building on this initiative, student leaders from Punjab have launched efforts to expand the organization and extend its reach.
On Saturday, student leaders Navaldeep Singh, Sanjeev Chaudhary, and Sumit Rahul addressed a press conference at the party office in Chandigarh.
These three student leaders appealed to all university students in Chandigarh and Punjab to join 'ASAP' and released a mobile number—8588833485. Any student can give a missed call on this number to join 'ASAP'. Once connected, they will be contacted and informed about the organization's strategies.
The student leaders also launched the organization’s website, www.asap4students.org. Students can visit this website, share their detailed information, and officially become part of ASAP.
ASAP student leader Sumit Rahul, while addressing the media, stated that Arvind Kejriwal has spearheaded a revolution in alternative politics nationwide. ASAP has been established to carry this movement into every college and university across the country.
"Our membership drive begins today. In the coming days, we will visit every college and university in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, form student units, and make students aware of our objectives."
"Our primary objective is to foster nationalism by instilling a sense of patriotism among young students and preparing a dynamic youth force. Secondly, we aim to engage in social work, contributing to various community welfare initiatives alongside our student companions. Thirdly, we seek to inspire political interest among students, empowering them to make informed political decisions. Lastly, and most importantly, we focus on education reform by forming student groups in colleges and universities to raise awareness about the need for improving the education system."
Another ASAP student leader, Sanjeev Chaudhary, stated, "We will bridge the gap between students and the government, as politics directly or indirectly influences every aspect of society. From electricity and water to roads, education, and healthcare, the government makes crucial decisions that affect our daily lives. It is, therefore, the responsibility of young students to critically observe and engage with the government's actions and policies. By embracing this responsibility, we can collectively work towards building a better society and a brighter future."
Student leader Navaldeep Singh remarked, "ASAP represents the vision of alternative politics. Unlike other parties, we stand out in both approach and purpose. Our mission is to bring transparency to governance and eradicate corruption. We aim to provide students with a platform for progressive politics, enabling them to share their ideas and gain a deeper understanding of the evolving political landscape."
He further stated that in the coming time, ASAP will strongly contest student union elections in every college of Chandigarh, including Punjab University, and form student units in Punjab's colleges and universities.
