New Delhi, May 6, 2022: The arrest of BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has escalated into a tug of war between the police forces of three states and a political slugfest between AAP and BJP government.
The case so far has been full of twists and turns. Where Punjab Police had planned to arrest Tajinder Bagga on Wednesday morning, the swift and legally right moves made by Delhi Police under the BJP government changed the whole game.
Soon after Bagga was picked up by Punjab Police from his residence on Wednesday morning, Delhi police registered a case of kidnapping against Punjab Police on the FIR filed by Bagga's father Preetpal Singh Bagga at Janakpuri police station.
In his complaint, Preetpal Singh Bagga told that around 10-15 police personnel came to their home and dragged Tajinder out. They also punched me in this face, he claimed.
Following the registration of the FIR, Delhi Police flashed the messages at various stations including BJP ruled Haryana Government.
Simultaneously, Delhi Police also moved to Dwarka court to get a search warrant. The search warrant allowed Delhi Police to rescue Bagga from wherever they find him and take him into custody and produce him in Dwarka court.
As soon as the Haryana government was intimated about Bagga's case, the police of four districts including Sonipat, Panipat, Rohtak, and Karnal were put on alert and asked to stop the Punjab Police party taking Tajinder Bagga.
It was reportedly near Pipli in Kurukshetra where Bagga was found by Haryana Police and taken into custody.
Though the Punjab Police tried to get back Bagga in their custody, it failed as Delhi police has already obtained a search warrant to bring Bagga back to Delhi.
Interestingly, SSP Mohali accused SSP Kurukshetra of illegal detention of the Punjab Police party which has arrested Tejinder Pal Singh Bagga and was bringing him to Mohali to be produced in court.
In his letter, states that it "tantamounts to illegal detention & interference in the admin of criminal justice system" & asks that they be released.
The Punjab Police even moved to Punjab and Haryana Police against Haryana Police but didn't get any relief. The court rejected the Punjab government's plea to keep Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh in Haryana.
Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has now returned to Delhi in the custody of the Delhi Police. KS Sandhu, DSP (D), Mohali who was detained by Delhi Police till 6 am faced protest amid sloganeering outside Janakpuri Police Station in Delhi
