Chandigarh, September 13, 2024 - Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Pankaj Agarwal said that 1561 candidates from all political parties and independent candidates have filed 1747 nomination papers for the Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October 5, which have been scrutinized. Nominations can be withdrawn until September 16.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that the voting will be held on October 5 and counting will take place on October 8, 2024, and the result will be declared on the same day.
Bhiwani Assembly constituency has the highest number of 31 candidates, while Nangal Chaudhary Assembly constituency has the lowest with 9 candidates, he added.
He said that 14 candidates each have filed nominations from Kalka and Panchkula Assembly constituencies, 15 from Naraiangarh, 16 from Ambala Cantt, 15 each from Ambala City and Mulana (Reserved), 11 from Sadhaura (Reserved), 16 each from Jagadhri and Yamunanagar, 13 from Radaur, 24 from Ladwa, 17 from Shahabad (Reserved), 14 from Thanesar, 17 from Pehowa, 20 from Guhla (Reserved), 23 from Kalayat, 16 from Kaithal, and 28 from Pundri.
Similarly, 23 candidates from Nilokheri (Reserved), 10 from Indri, 17 from Karnal, 12 from Gharaunda, 22 from Assandh, 16 from Panipat (Rural), 17 from Panipat (Urban), 13 from Israna (Reserved), 12 from Samalkha, 15 from Ganaur, 18 from Rai, 15 from Kharkhoda (Reserved), 16 from Sonipat, 18 from Gohana, 11 from Baroda, 16 from Julana, 22 from Safidon, 21 from Jind, 30 from Uchana Kalan, and 18 from Narwana (Reserved) have filed nominations.
Pankaj Agarwal informed that 17 candidates have filled nominations from Tohana, 27 from Fatehabad, 18 from Ratia (Reserved), 12 from Kalanwali (Reserved), 20 from Dabwali, 23 from Rania, 18 from Sirsa, 14 from Ellenabad, 18 from Adampur, 11 from Uklana (Reserved), 25 from Narnaund, 23 from Hansi, 14 from Barwala, 26 from Hisar, 25 from Nalwa, 18 from Loharu, 19 from Badhra, 23 from Dadri, 22 from Tosham, and 19 from Bawani Khera (Reserved) have filed nominations.
He further said that 24 candidates have filed nominations from Meham Assembly constituency, 12 from Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi, 21 from Rohtak, 15 from Kalanaur (Reserved), 19 from Bahadurgarh, 10 from Badli, 13 from Jhajjar (Reserved), 15 from Beri, 14 from Ateli, 21 from Mahendergarh, 17 from Narnaul, 13 from Bawal (Reserved), 23 from Kosli, 17 from Rewari, 12 from Pataudi (Reserved), 19 from Badshahpur, 24 each from Gurgaon and Sohna, 11 from Nuh, 13 from Firozpur Jhirka, 11 from Punhana, 13 from Hathin, 18 from Hodal (Reserved), 16 from Palwal, 19 from Prithla, 16 from Faridabad NIT, 15 from Badkhal, 11 from Ballabgarh, 12 from Faridabad, and 15 candidates from Tigaon have filed nominations.
Pankaj Agarwal said that candidates who have filed nominations for the elections can withdraw their nominations until September 16, 2024.
After this date, the final list of candidates for the 90 assembly constituencies of the state will be published, and on the same day, the election symbols will also be allotted by the concerned Returning Officers.
In the Haryana Assembly elections, 2014, 1351 candidates had contested, whereas in the 2019 Assembly elections, this number was 961.
