Action begins against vacant plot owners; 12 notices issued
Ferozepur, July 13, 2025: The Local Municipal Council has started issuing notices to the owners of vacant plots in the city who have failed to maintain cleanliness and construct proper fencing around their properties.
Municipal Council officials, led by Executive Officer Poonam Bhatnagar and Sanitation Superintendent Sukhpal Singh, informed that continuous announcements were made across the city urging plot owners to clear debris, remove wild vegetation, and ensure proper drainage within their vacant plots. The awareness drive aimed to ensure public compliance with the district administration’s guidelines.
On the first day of the drive, 12 plot owners were served notices, giving them seven days to clean their properties. Officials warned that in the coming week, more such notices would be issued to ensure that vacant plots do not become breeding grounds for diseases such as malaria, dengue, and chikungunya due to accumulated garbage, stagnant water, and unchecked growth of weeds.
Sanitation Superintendent Sukhpal Singh further stated that failure to comply with these notices could lead to penalties, challans, and legal action under the Municipal Act, 1911, and Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.
The Municipal Council has also appealed to city residents to take timely action by cleaning and properly fencing their vacant plots to contribute to maintaining public health and hygiene standards in Ferozepur.
