Asian Games 2026: India enters top 10 with 30 medals

New Delhi, September 27, 2026: India have moved back into the top 10 of the Asian Games 2026 medal standings, with their tally reaching 30 medals — four gold, 12 silver and 14 bronze — putting them in 10th position.
China continues to dominate the medal table with 107 gold, 41 silver and 28 bronze medals for a total of 176. Hosts Japan are in second place with 31 gold medals, while South Korea occupies third position with 16 gold medals.
A double gold in kabaddi boosted India’s latest medal haul. The Indian women’s team defeated Iran in the final to win gold, while the men’s team beat Iran 40-34 to retain their Asian Games title.
India also added medals in athletics and shooting. Sawan Barwal won silver in the men’s marathon, while Tajinderpal Singh Toor secured silver in the shot put.
In shooting, the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team of Ashi Chouksey, Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod also won silver.
Prachi Choudhary claimed bronze in the women’s 400m, while Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar won bronze in mixed-doubles squash.

The Asian Games are still underway, with medal events in athletics, squash, archery and several other disciplines scheduled on September 27. India’s medal tally could therefore increase further as the competition progresses.
The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games are the 20th edition of the continental multi-sport event. The Games are being held in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
