Breaking: Five IAF personnel killed in plane crash in Assam

Jorhat, Assam, June 13, 2026: Five Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel lost their lives and another was seriously injured after an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed and caught fire while attempting to land at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on Saturday.
According to initial reports, the aircraft was approaching the runway when it met with an accident, leading to a powerful explosion and a massive fire. The crash triggered an immediate emergency response at the airbase.
Firefighters and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. While five Air Force personnel were killed in the crash, the co-pilot sustained serious injuries and was taken for medical treatment.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the accident. An investigation is expected to be launched to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
The AN-32 is a twin-engine military transport aircraft widely used by the Indian Air Force for logistics and operational missions.
