Breaking: Punjab Cabinet approves Sacrilege Bill

Chandigarh, July 14, 2025: A key Cabinet meeting held today at the Chief Minister’s residence concluded with the approval of the much-awaited Beadbi (sacrilege) Bill.
The bill, which has been in demand for a long time in Punjab, is expected to be tabled in the Vidhan Sabha later today. The legislation introduces stringent provisions to punish those involved in acts of sacrilege against religious scriptures and places of worship.
According to the approved provisions, individuals found guilty of such offences will face life imprisonment. The bill also proposes the establishment of special fast-track courts dedicated to handling beadbi cases, ensuring swift justice
Notably, those convicted under this law will not be eligible for parole, reflecting the government’s firm stance on protecting religious sentiments.
