DC Setia conducts surprise visit to De-Addiction Centres; Urges youth to rebuild lives, stay drug-free
Moga, June 8, 2025: In a determined effort to support Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s mission of a drug-free Punjab, Deputy Commissioner Sagar Setia today conducted a surprise visit to the Government De-Addiction Center and Red Cross De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Center in Janer. During his visit, he personally inquired about the well-being of patients admitted for treatment and listened to their suggestions for further improvement of services.
DC assured the patients that the district administration remains committed to providing all essential resources, including medicines and test kits, to support their recovery journey. “The Punjab government and Moga district administration stand firmly with those battling addiction. We will ensure no patient faces any problem during their stay here,” he said.
DC Setia lauded the patients for their determination to break free from the grip of drugs and become responsible citizens. Stressing the devastating impact of drug abuse, he reminded them how drugs not only ruin health but also strip individuals of their dignity and respect in society. “The state government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, has declared war on drugs. We are committed to rehabilitating affected youth so they can live healthy and fulfilling lives once again,” he added.
He urged the recovering patients to make a firm pledge to stay away from drugs forever and assured them of maximum government support in this fight. Highlighting the government’s efforts to include those recovering from drug addiction into the mainstream, Setia noted that vocational training courses are being provided at de-addiction centres. “This training will help patients start their businesses and improve their families’ standard of living,” he said.
DC also reviewed ongoing renovation work at the Government De-Addiction Centre and instructed the concerned officials to complete it without delay, ensuring that these centres are well-equipped to help patients recover and reintegrate into society as drug-free, productive citizens.
