Amritsar (Punjab), July 18, 2025: A fresh bomb threat targeting the Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) has triggered alarm across Punjab and the Sikh community. This marks the fifth threat via email in recent days, allegedly warning of an RDX blast at the revered site.
SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mann condemned the continuous threats, stating they have deeply unsettled devotees.
He questioned the effectiveness of the police, noting that despite the detention of Shubham Dubey, a software engineer from Faridabad, the email threats have not ceased. Mann speculated this could be the work of a larger network or agency, and called for a thorough investigation.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, he warned that if the accused are not arrested within 2-3 days, the SGPC would meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to demand stronger action. Former BJP MP Shwet Malik also expressed concern and announced plans to travel to Delhi to meet Amit Shah over the issue.
Meanwhile, security has been intensified at the Golden Temple. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami revealed that since July 14, at least five such threats have been received.
Police have seized the suspect’s laptop and phone, and continue their probe. With tensions rising, all eyes are now on how the Punjab Government and law enforcement will respond to this sensitive and alarming situation.
