Four medical stores sealed after drug-related deaths in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, October 3, 2025: In a strict action following the deaths of four young men due to drugs in Lakho Ke Behram, the Ferozepur district administration conducted raids on six medical stores, sealing four for selling prohibited medicines.
Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, during a press conference at the District Administrative Complex, said that a special team, including senior medical officers and executive magistrates, was formed immediately after the incident. Families of the deceased were consulted before submitting a detailed report.
The report revealed that three of the deceased had pre-existing health conditions, including one with a spinal ulcer, and had previously received de-addiction medicines from rehabilitation centres. The fourth youth died after taking a de-addiction pill as an injection.
Following the findings, another inspection team, including Harita Bansal (District Controlling Officer, Ferozepur), Raman Deep Gupta (District Controlling Officer, Muktsar), Parmpal Singh (Naib Tehsildar, Mallanwala Khas), and police officials, conducted raids on five medical stores: Parmit Medical Store, Guru Nanak 13-13 Medical Store, Tanu Medicos, Sukhraj Medical Store, and Satnam Medical Store.
Deputy Commissioner Sharma emphasised that strict directives have been issued for continuous inspections, and immediate action will be taken against stores selling prohibited medicines. SSP Sidhu highlighted that when illegal drug supply chains are disrupted, youth often turn to medical drugs, resulting in overdoses. Parents are advised to monitor their children for any behavioural changes and seek prompt medical attention.
The district administration, along with the health department, continues to intensify operations against illegal drug sales, ensuring no medical store or trafficker involved in narcotics is spared.
