Ganieve Kaur Majithia Demands Criminal Case Against Vigilance Officers for Alleged Illegal Search at Chandigarh Residence
Chandigarh, July 17, 2025 – Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia, wife of senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia, has written to the SSP of Chandigarh (UT), demanding the registration of a criminal case against officials of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for allegedly conducting an unlawful search of her official residence without a warrant.
In her complaint, Ganieve Kaur stated that on the morning of June 25, 2025, around 10:15 AM, nearly 20 plainclothes officials from the Vigilance Bureau forcibly entered her official accommodation at House No. 39, Sector 4, Chandigarh. At the time, only her elderly and ailing mother and domestic help were present at the residence.
She alleged that under the supervision of Arun Saini, the officers searched her house, opened cupboards and drawers, tossed belongings around, and even rummaged through her personal handbags. When her legal counsel questioned the officials and demanded identification and a search warrant, they allegedly refused to comply. Only Arun Saini disclosed his name, but did not produce an ID card, she added.
Majithia has demanded that a criminal case be registered under Sections 329, 330, 331, 332, 333, 198, 201, and 61(2) of the IPC for illegal entry, unauthorized search, and intimidation of household staff. She also urged that immediate action be taken against the Punjab Police and Vigilance Bureau officials involved, to ensure justice and accountability.
