Chandigarh, February 20, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday announced that the state government has dissolved the Housing Board Haryana and merged it with the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to improve administrative efficiency, strengthen urban planning, and provide better housing facilities to citizens.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while presenting a Government Resolution on the opening day of the Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
Sh. Saini stated that the functions of the Housing Board Haryana and HSVP were largely overlapping in nature, and the merger would eliminate duplication, ensure better coordination, and accelerate urban development projects across the state.
He assured the House that the interests of all employees of the Housing Board Haryana have been fully protected, and necessary safeguards have been put in place following the merger.
The resolution was passed under sub-section (1) of Section 80 of the Haryana Housing Board Act, 1971. With this move, all responsibilities, assets, and functions of the Housing Board will now be vested in the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran.
