MC Commissioner Amit Kumar launches mission Stray Cattle-Free Chandigarh
Chandigarh, April 24, 2025:
Taking serious note of the increasing issue of stray cattle on city roads, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar, IAS has launched an aggressive campaign under the mission “Stray Cattle-Free Chandigarh.”
Under this mission, the Commissioner directed the concerned officers to intensify cattle-catching operations across all sectors, with a special emphasis on the areas near villages and urban colonies.
Commissioner Amit Kumar has made it clear that stray cattle will not be tolerated on city roads beyond the next three months. He has issued strict instructions to all concerned officials dealing with the cattle catching unit to ensure continuous and effective drives to remove stray animals from public areas.
In a firm message to violators, the Commissioner stated that any cattle caught by the MCC will not be released under any condition, and legal action will be initiated as per law against those responsible for letting their animals roam freely in the city.
He said “Stray cattle pose a serious threat to traffic, public safety, and the overall discipline of the city.
He also urged citizens to support the initiative and report incidents of stray cattle to the MCC.
