Dr. Manpreet Kaur Saini, Entomologist(Storage), Department of Processing & Food Engineering informed that the Protection Kit finds wide application in safeguarding stored pulses from insect-pest infestation during storage in retail packets and containers.
The kit provides a scientific and eco-friendly method for protecting pulses by creating an unfavourable environment for storage insect-pests without affecting grain quality.
The technology offers a simple, safe and cost-effective solution for farmers, traders/retailers and small storage units to reduce post-harvest losses. It is easy to use, requires minimal technical skill and does not leave harmful chemical residues.
The PAU Protection Kit thus serves as an effective tool for enhancing storage life, maintaining grain quality and improving the profitability of pulse storage, especially for small and marginal stakeholders.
