Police Bust Heroin, ICE Drug Network; Three Arrested with 10.125 Kg Heroin, 2.001 Kg ICE
Ferozepur, May 20, 2026: In a breakthrough against drug trafficking, the Ferozepur Police arrested three accused in two separate cases under the NDPS Act and Arms Act, recovering 10.125 kg heroin, 2.001 kg ICE drug, an illegal Turkish-made .30 bore pistol and a motorcycle from their possession. Both are drugs, but ICE is a highly addictive, crystalline form of methamphetamine. usually smoked or injected, and it is more potent and destructive than powdered.
Addressing the media, DIG Ferozepur Range Snehdeep Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ferozepur Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that under the directions of the Director General of Police, Punjab, a special anti-drug campaign titled “Yudh Nashian Virudh” is being conducted across the district to curb drug smuggling and criminal activities.
The DIG said that in the first case, a CIA Staff team led by Inspector Mohit Dhawan conducted a naka near the village of Chechak on May 19, 2026. During checking, the police intercepted a motorcycle rider identified as Om alias Omi, a resident of village Leli Wala under Sadar Police Station, Ferozepur. On suspicion, the police searched him and recovered 10 kg 125 gm of heroin from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.
In another operation, a CIA Staff team headed by Inspector Balraj Singh laid a naka near the village Katora on the same day. During the check, police arrested two persons identified as Aniket Kumar of Shanti Nagar and Sumit Kumar of Ferozepur City. During the search, police recovered 2 kg 1 gm of ICE drug, one Turkish-made .30 bore pistol and a motorcycle from their possession. A case under Section 22-C of the NDPS Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act has been registered against them.
DIG Sharma further revealed that the smugglers involved in heroin and ICE trafficking are linked to the same network. He said four more suspects have been nominated in the case, including one accused who is allegedly operating the network from inside a jail. Police teams are investigating the entire nexus and further linkages, which are expected to be uncovered shortly, and the present recovery is the outcome of effective 'nakas' by the police.
