SGPC Opposes Film Emergency, Writes to CM Mann: "If the Film is Screened..."
Amritsar, December 16, 2025 – The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has reiterated its opposition to Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency. As the film nears its release following clearance, the SGPC, along with several Sikh organizations, has intensified its protests against the movie.
The SGPC has written a formal letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, urging the state government to prevent the film's screening within Punjab. The SGPC has demanded a complete ban on the film across the state.
Additionally, the SGPC has sent petitions to the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all districts, requesting their intervention to ensure the film is not screened in cinemas.
The SGPC and other Sikh groups have raised concerns over the content of the film, which they believe could misrepresent historical events or hurt sentiments, calling for decisive action by the government.
