SPCA holds free anti-rabies vaccination camp; 117 stray dogs vaccinated
Ferozepur, July 7, 2025: A free anti-rabies vaccination camp for stray dogs was organized today at the Government Veterinary Polyclinic, Ferozepur, to mark World Zoonoses Day, under the banner of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
The camp was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairperson, SPCA, Deepshikha Sharma, and supervised by Dr. Himanshu Syal, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department-cum-Secretary, SPCA Ferozepur.
Dr. Himanshu Syal informed that a total of 117 stray dogs were vaccinated during the camp. He emphasized that the increasing population of stray dogs in urban areas often leads to zoonotic diseases affecting humans, and vaccination is the only effective way to prevent such serious diseases.
In addition, anti-rabies vaccination was also carried out at dog shelters being run by social worker Mrs. Malti Sethi in Ferozepur City and social worker Kartik in Ferozepur Cantt. The camp was also conducted in coordination with the Municipal Committee officials.
Among those present during the camp were Dr. Vinod Kumar, Assistant Director; Dr. Rupinderjit Kaur, Veterinary Officer-cum-Incharge; Dr. Gurnoor Singh, Veterinary Officer; Dr. Prabhleen Singh, Veterinary Officer; Veterinary Inspector Omkarjeet Singh, along with Sahil and Sukhwinder.
