Ferozepur Girls shine in Punjab State Women’s Football Championship 2025,
Defeat Muktsar 2-0 to Enter Quarterfinals
Ferozepur, July 6, 2025: The Ferozepur girls’ football team delivered an impressive performance in the Punjab State Senior Women’s Football Championship 2025 by defeating Malwa FC Muktsar with a 2-0 victory, securing their place in the quarterfinals. The thrilling qualifier match, held under the supervision of Punjab Football Association officials, took place at the Jogindra Convent School ground in Badhni Gulab Singh, Ferozepur district.
The tournament was inaugurated by Simranpreet Singh Dhaliwal, Principal of Jogindra Convent School, who interacted with the players and encouraged them to play with full dedication, abiding by the rules and maintaining discipline.
In a closely contested match, the Muktsar team initially dominated, but the Ferozepur players bounced back strongly. They scored their first goal in the first half and sealed the victory with another goal in the second half. Notably, national-level player Joha Khan of Ferozepur stole the show with her outstanding performance, scoring crucial goals to secure her team’s win.
With this victory, Ferozepur advanced to the quarterfinals and will face Jalandhar district on July 8 at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. Both teams displayed excellent discipline and strategic play. Coaches Daljit Singh (JAFA – DFA Ferozepur) and Rajan Kumar (Malwa – DFA Muktsar) led their teams with dedication and true sportsmanship.
Prominent personalities present at the match included Jaswinder Singh Sandhu (senior journalist), Gurmeet Singh Gill (Secretary, DFA), veteran footballer and coach Sukhdeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh Kasoana, and Ashok Kumar Jeera. They praised the event's management, the disciplined gameplay, and emphasized the importance of such tournaments in promoting sports culture in Punjab. They also highlighted how sports can engage youth in positive activities, supporting the Punjab government's campaign against drugs and contributing to a healthier, progressive society.
At the closing ceremony, District Football Association President Harjeet Singh and Principal Simranpreet Singh Dhaliwal felicitated the winning team. They also expressed heartfelt gratitude to all guests, DFA officials, players, support staff, the government hospital’s medical team from Ferozeshah, and Jogindra Convent School's management committee for their efforts in successfully organizing the matches and the four-day camp.
