Students display strategic brilliance in Chess Tournament in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, July 22, 2026: Students displayed exceptional strategy, concentration and analytical skills during the Inter-DCM Chess Tournament 6.0 held at DC Model Senior Secondary School, with DC Model emerging champions in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
The tournament, organised to encourage students' participation in sports and mind games, witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of students representing DC Model Senior Secondary School, DCM International School, and Das & Brown World School. The event was inaugurated by Principal Yachna Chawla, who appreciated the students' enthusiastic participation and highlighted the importance of chess in developing critical thinking and decision-making skills.
The competition featured several closely contested matches, with participants demonstrating patience, strategic planning and impressive analytical abilities. The event also promoted discipline, confidence, sportsmanship and healthy competition among students.
In the boys’ category, DC Model Senior Secondary School secured first place, followed by DCM International School in second and Das & Brown World School in third. In the girls’ category, DC Model Senior Secondary School claimed the championship, while DCM International School finished as runners-up.
Deputy Principal Manish Banga felicitated the winners and participants during the closing ceremony. Congratulating the students, he said chess is not merely a game but an effective tool for developing logical thinking, patience, decision-making and problem-solving abilities. He encouraged students to continue striving for excellence in both academics and sports.
