Abide by weekend lockdown, don’t invite complete lockdown: Mohali DC
Mohali, April 30, 2021:
In order to curb the rapid spread of the corona virus, weekend lockdown had been imposed in the district but despite many appeals to one and all, desired outcome has not been observed; police and civil officers had to be out in field and were forced to check and challan public loitering about despite lockdown, said Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan.
Issuing a warning to people saying “Abide by weekend lockdown; don’t invite complete lockdown”, Deputy Commissioner without mincing words said that any lockdown violation henceforth will have serious repercussions; we will not just challan violators but will be forced to inch towards complete lockdown. He said that the Centre Government has already made it clear in its latest guidelines that ‘Districts where positivity is more than 10% or more in a week or where bed occupancy is more than 60% intensive and local containment measures should be taken with either indicator’. He said both the indicators (positivity rate and bed occupancy) in case of district Mohali are higher than the suggested limit so we are heading towards a lockdown, if will don’t contain our movement.
A lockdown implies loss of jobs, loss of income, labour migration and slowing of growth rate among n number of problems, so we should try to restrain our movement rather than inviting lockdown due to higher transmission, said Dayalan.
Making an appeal to public, Dayalan said,” Don’t defeat the efforts of thousands of Health Care Workers working relentlessly; Stay home, Stay safe.”
