Crackdown on 'China Dor' sale: Pollution Board announces Rs 25K cash reward for reporting sale, storage, or usage of China Dor

Chandigarh, January 5, 2025: In view of the upcoming festival of Makar Sankranti where the sale and usage of China dor increases, the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 to anyone reporting sale, storage, supply, import, or use China dor for kite flying in the state.
The sale, purchase, and use of hazardous synthetic plastic kite string, commonly referred to as China-dor, remains prohibited in Punjab; however, it continues to be traded secretly across the state.
"If a person is found selling/storing/supplying/importing/using China dor, then the information regarding this should be given on the toll-free number 1800-1802810. The informer will be given a reward up to Rs 25,000/- (Terms and Conditions apply*) and their names will be kept confidential, For any clarification, you may contact emailid_eehq2.2@gmail.com," issued Punjab Pollution Control Board.
PPCB has appealed to the residents not to use banned Chinese dor/Nylon/synthetic thread for kite flying and help the government to crack down on its sale and purchase.
Punishment and Violations:
Any person found violating the rules by manufacturing, sale, purchasing, supplying, importing, and use of kite thread made out of nylon, plastic, or any other synthetic material including the popular 'China dor', is liable to a penalty which shall not be less than Rs 10,000 but which may extend to Rs 15 lakh.
