Mass gathering at Shambhu Border on Feb 21 to mark Shaheed Shubhkaran Singh’s first death anniversary
Ferozepur/Shambhu, February 19, 2025: A large number of farmers and labourers from Punjab and Haryana continue to arrive to attend the martyrdom ceremony organized by the farmer labour organizations at Shambhu Border Morcha on February 21, 2025 to mark the first death anniversary of Shaheed Shubhkaran Singh.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher shared this information while talking to the media. He said that during the struggle that started for the fulfilment of the legitimate demands of the farmers and labourers, on the instructions of the Central Government and the order of the Haryana Government, a 22-year-old young farmer Shubhkaran was martyred while trying to reach Delhi on February 21, 2024, due to which the anti-farmer and labourer and cruel face of the Modi government have been exposed.
He said that the sacrifices of Shubhkaran and more than 40 martyrs will never go in vain and will work to change the fate of the farmers and labourers.
He appealed to the farmers and labourers of Punjab and Haryana to reach maximum numbers on the 21st. He said that despite all the difficulties, today the Delhi movement is shining like the sun not only in India but also in the entire world.
In the coming days, it will continue continuously until all the demands including the MSP Guarantee Act and the prices of crops as per the instructions of the Swaminathan Commission, debt relief for the farmers and labourers, 200 days of employment in a year under MNREGA and daily wage of 700, pension scheme for the farmers and labourers, implementation of the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution for the tribals are resolved.
Added here, in related developments, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who had been on a fast-unto-death since November 26, 2024, agreed to accept medical aid after the Central Government extended an invitation for talks on February 14, 2025, to discuss farmers' demands, including a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. Following Dallewal's decision, a group of 121 farmers, who had joined the indefinite hunger strike in solidarity, also ended their fast. The upcoming talks are anticipated to address the pressing issues faced by the farming community and seek amicable solutions.
