Ferozepur gets green signal for trains to Haridwar, Nanded Sahib
Ferozepur, May 8, 2025: The long-pending demand for direct trains from Ferozepur to Hazur Sahib (Nanded) and Haridwar is finally set to be fulfilled. The Ministry of Railways has approved the proposal submitted by senior BJP leader Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi to the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, granting permission to operate two new train services from Ferozepur.
Rana Sodhi stated that the initiation of these two trains will strengthen the religious sentiments of both Hindu and Sikh communities, as both Haridwar and Nanded Sahib hold deep spiritual significance for them.
Detailing the schedule, Sodhi shared that the train to Haridwar will depart every Wednesday at 10:40 PM from Ferozepur and will reach Haridwar at 8:30 AM the next day, covering a distance of 445 kilometres. It will pass through key stations in Punjab, including Faridkot, Kotkapura, Bathinda, Rampura Phul, Barnala, Dhuri, Nabha, and Patiala.
The second train, headed to Nanded Sahib, will depart from Ferozepur every Friday at 1:25 PM and arrive at its destination on Sunday at 3:00 AM, completing a journey of 2020 kilometres.
Sodhi emphasised that these new train services will bring immense benefits to the residents of Ferozepur and the surrounding areas of Punjab. He acknowledged that this long-standing demand of the local populace had remained unaddressed for years. Moved by the public sentiment, he presented the proposal to the Union Railway Minister, who had assured support during their meeting.
Expressing gratitude, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the train services. He added that the official dates for the commencement of these trains will be announced soon.
Calling Ferozepur his birthplace and karmabhoomi (land of duty), Sodhi reaffirmed his commitment to raising local issues at the national level and working tirelessly for the development and progress of Ferozepur.
