Nawanshahr: DLSA organizes anti-tobacco walkathon in collaboration with B.A.V School, Balachaur

Nawanshahr (Punjab), May 31, 2025: In a strong move to promote a tobacco-free lifestyle, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, in collaboration with B.A.V. School, Balachaur, organized an awareness rally-cum-walkathon today.
The event was aimed at educating the general public, especially the youth, about the dangers of tobacco consumption and encouraging a healthier lifestyle.
The rally was flagged off by District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson of DLSA, Priya Sood, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in building a drug-free society.
Speaking to participants, she urged the younger generation to stay away from tobacco, bad influences, and all forms of drugs, and to embrace sports and physical activities as a path to a healthy and fulfilling life.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from various quarters including:
- Dr. Amandeep, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA
- Judicial officers and officials from different departments
- Principals, teachers, and students from B.A.V. School
- Members of the District Bar Association, SBS Nagar, led by President S.S. Kundra
- Members of the Tehsil Bar Association, Balachaur, led by President H.S. Saini
- Staff of the District Legal Services Authority
- Teachers, residents of Balachaur, Saanjh Kendra employees, and para-legal volunteers
Judge Priya Sood expressed hope that such efforts, though small in scale, can have a lasting impact. “We believe these initiatives will contribute to a tobacco-free Punjab,” she stated.
