Chandigarh, May 31, 2025: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today questioned Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on the status of the state government’s much-publicized “Yudh Nashay Virudh” (War on Drugs), as the self-imposed deadline of May 31 ended.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Warring posted, “Today is May 31, 2025, the DEADLINE you set for Defeating Drugs in Punjab. Will you please tell us about the status of the ‘War on Drugs’?”
He further asked whether the government had declared a “victory” or had announced a “unilateral ceasefire” now that the deadline had passed.
Warring took a jibe at the Chief Minister, saying, “If the ‘War’ has been won, people of Punjab would like you to make the Grand Announcement yourself… They would like to hear it from the horse’s mouth before they start the celebrations. And if you make the victory announcement, it should be followed by a ‘Victory Parade’.”
Speaking informally to reporters later, the PCC chief criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for setting what he termed as “unrealistic deadlines” merely for publicity.
He alleged that the funds spent on the extensive media campaign could have been better utilized in establishing more de-addiction centers and rehabilitation facilities for drug victims.
Warring’s remarks have intensified political scrutiny over the AAP government's anti-drug campaign and its outcomes, with critics demanding transparency and measurable results.
