PAU KVK Ferozepur launches ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ with full enthusiasm
Ferozepur, May 31, 2025 : Under the directives of ICAR, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ferozepur initiated the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ on May 29, 2025, forming three separate teams to carry out activities across villages. This campaign, a nationwide initiative launched by DARE/ICAR and MOA & FW from May 29 to June 12, aims to promote scientific agricultural practices and improve farmers’ livelihoods through awareness camps and training sessions.
Guided by Director of Extension Education at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and led by Dr. Gurmel Singh, Deputy Director (Training) KVK Ferozepur, the campaign seeks to maximize outreach among farmers. The three teams engaged in village activities to educate farmers about sustainable agricultural practices and cost-effective farming techniques.
During the camp's opening session, Dr. Gurmel Singh emphasized the significance of the campaign and discussed various government schemes designed to support farmers. He encouraged them to take full advantage of this initiative and reduce agricultural costs by adopting supplementary farming businesses.
Dr. B.S. Sekhon, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), conducted village visits with team members, providing farmers with insights into schemes, home-based vegetable and fruit cultivation, and establishing kitchen gardens. Dr. Simranjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), guided farmers on seed treatment, pest identification, and integrated pest management for paddy and basmati rice. She also highlighted government schemes related to beekeeping. Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Soil Science), detailed the importance of soil and water testing, proper sample collection, and improved cultivation techniques for Kharif crops.
The KVK Ferozepur team addressed farmers' queries and distributed agricultural literature published by PAU to ensure sustained knowledge dissemination. This initiative stands as a strong step towards advancing agricultural innovation and sustainability in Punjab.
