Says, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police strengthens night vigil to ensure public safety
Jalandhar, June 15, 2025: To ensure the safety and security of the city during night hours, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police keeping a close eye through night-time surveillance with 46 dynamic Nakas and 23 active patrolling teams. Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur said the commissionerate police remain on alert while the rest of the city sleeps, ensuring no location goes unchecked under the cover of darkness.
Divulging more, the CP stated that 46 strategically rotating Nakas are set up across various locations each night. These checkpoints are designed to keep a tight vigil and deter any unlawful activities, particularly targeting the movement of drug smugglers during late-night and early morning hours.
In addition to the Nakas, 23 patrolling vehicles—including zebra cars and motorcycles—remain on continuous rounds to ensure a swift response to any emergency. Likewise, over 60 Non-Gazetted Officers (NGOs), along with Gazetted Officers (GOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs), are deployed to monitor the entire night surveillance operation firsthand.
Reaffirming the commissionerate police's dedication to public safety, the CP emphasized that no stone will be left unturned in maintaining law and order. “The visible and strategic presence of police throughout the city at night is not only a strong deterrent to criminal elements but also aims at reducing our response time in case of any untoward incident,” she said.
She added that the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate remains fully committed to protecting the citizens and maintaining a safe environment round the clock.
