Chandigarh, January 28, 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State General Secretary and Media In-charge Baltej Singh Pannu on Tuesday raised serious concerns over remarks made by former Punjab Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal in a recent interview, calling them deeply disturbing and demanding full disclosure.
Referring to the interview, Pannu said Bhattal had claimed that during her tenure as Chief Minister, and in the run-up to elections, certain party leaders and advisors had allegedly suggested carrying out bomb blasts in buses and public places to influence the political situation. He described the statement as shocking and said it warranted immediate clarification.
Pannu urged Bhattal to publicly name the Congress leaders and advisors who allegedly made such suggestions, stating that the matter involved grave issues of public safety and democratic ethics. “If such advice was indeed given, the people of Punjab deserve to know who was responsible,” he said.
The AAP leader alleged that the remarks expose what he termed the mindset of traditional political parties, accusing them of being willing to endanger public lives for the sake of retaining power. He said such practices, if true, amounted to a serious betrayal of the trust reposed by the people of Punjab.
Pannu reiterated that AAP stands for transparent and people-centric politics and called for accountability to ensure that such allegations are thoroughly examined in the interest of truth and public confidence.
