Former CBI Director J.S. Bawa Honoured on His 100th Birthday by Tricity IPS (Retd) Fraternity

Chandigarh, March 7, 2026: The Tricity IPS (Retd) Fraternity Group organised a brief but warm function on Friday at the Punjab Police Officers Institute to honour veteran police officer J. S. Bawa, IPS (Retd), on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
A 1951-batch IPS officer of the Punjab cadre, Bawa had a distinguished career serving in various senior positions in Punjab and across India. He also served as Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for five years.
During the ceremony, S. S. Brar, former DGP of Haryana, and D. S. Mangat, former DGP of Punjab, honoured Bawa by presenting him with a shawl and bouquet in recognition of his long and distinguished service.
Among the prominent personalities present at the event were V. K. Ahluwalia, former DGP of Himachal Pradesh, P. C. Dogra, former DGP of Punjab, Gurbachan Singh Jagat, IPS (Retd) and former Governor of Manipur, Rishpal Singh, former Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi, Dilbagh Singh, former DGP of Jammu and Kashmir, and Baljit Singh Sandhu, former DGP of Haryana.

The Tricity IPS (Retd) Fraternity Group, founded in 1986–87 by IPS officers based in the Chandigarh Tricity region, currently has more than 57 members. Notably, J. S. Bawa presently serves as the President of the group.
On the occasion, Anil Kumar Sharma, IPS (Retd) and Coordinator of the group, expressed gratitude to I. P. S. Sahota and Puneet Sahota for hosting the lunch for members attending the celebration.
