London (UK), June 8, 2026: A 32-year-old Punjabi-origin delivery driver has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 29 years for the murder of a sex worker in England’s West Midlands.
Tanvir Singh, a resident of West Bromwich, was convicted of murdering 41-year-old Shara Miller after a two-week trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
Miller, who worked as a sex worker, was found dead near an industrial estate on Woodburn Road in Smethwick on August 11, 2025. A post-mortem examination revealed that she died from strangulation and had suffered multiple injuries to her face and head.
The court heard that Singh met Miller on the night of the incident and took her in his van to an isolated industrial area. Prosecutors said an altercation followed, during which Singh fatally assaulted her. He later dumped the body and attempted to destroy forensic evidence in an effort to conceal the crime.
Sentencing Singh, Judge Michael Chambers KC described him as a “manipulative and cynical” man who had shown no genuine remorse. The judge said the killing was a brutal crime that had caused immense pain to the victim’s family.
Investigators from West Midlands Police identified and traced Singh through CCTV footage, forensic evidence and vehicle-tracking data. He was arrested shortly after the murder.
Detective Inspector Jo Davenport said the victim was “brutally killed by a dangerous predator” and credited the investigation team’s work in securing the conviction.
The court ordered that the time Singh spent in custody before sentencing would be counted towards his minimum prison term.
